Farm Delivery Driver

Reed Farm is seeking the right person to fill a year-round position as Farm Delivery Driver. The ideal candidate has some experience working in agriculture, food distribution, and refrigerated delivery of perishable food products. They enjoy hard work with integrity in a fun and dedicated team dynamic, and they are passionate about local food systems as well as sustainable and regenerative agriculture. Willing to train the right person.

Compensation: $22-$25/hour based on experience, paid overtime (if over 40 hours in the week), accrued sick time, plus chicken and eggs.

Schedule: Part-time, year-round. ~24 hours/week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, variable but generally 8am-4:30pm with unpaid half hour lunch break). Some flexible hours available to accommodate school schedules.

Reed Farm is a family owned and operated, innovative, small-scale pastured (as season allows) poultry farm and on-farm state-inspected poultry processing facility in Western Massachusetts. We raise poultry for wholesale and provide the local farming community with custom poultry processing services. We are progressing towards a USDA Grant of Inspection, after which we will be the sole USDA poultry processing facility in MA, filling a crucial gap in the local food system. Job Description
The Farm Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting fresh and frozen raw meat, eggs, and other refrigerated farm products to retailers, restaurants, and distribution locations. This role requires strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, temperature control, and delivery procedures to maintain product quality and regulatory compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Load, transport, and unload refrigerated farm products, including raw poultry and eggs
• Operate refrigerated vans or box trucks safely and efficiently
• Monitor and document refrigeration temperatures during transport
• Ensure proper handling and storage of raw poultry products to prevent contamination
• Follow farm biosecurity procedures to reduce contamination risks
• Verify delivery orders, invoices, and customer receipts
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of delivery vehicles and storage containers
• Follow all food safety, biosecurity, and transportation regulations
• Communicate delivery schedules and issues with customers and management
• Assist with packing, labeling, and inventory preparation as needed
• Support farm operations during busy production periods when needed
• Represent Reed Farm with courteous demeanor and appearance

Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Knowledge of safe food handling and cold-chain transportation practices
• Ability to lift and carry 40–70 pounds regularly
• Ability to carry orders up and down stairs
• Frequent lifting, bending, standing, and loading/unloading
• Ability to work in cold storage and outdoor weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and sanitation standards
• Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and organized
• Ability to work independently to manage delivery routes
• Comfort with driving long distances when necessary
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
• Early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday availability during peak production periods
• Access to reliable transportation for commuting to farm for work

Preferred Candidates

• Previous agricultural, food distribution, or refrigerated delivery experience
• Familiarity with USDA, FDA, or local food transportation regulations
• Experience handling raw poultry, eggs, or perishable food products
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge
• Knowledge of and passion for sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices
